How Bowling-Tournaments.com collects, uses, and protects personal information.

Last Updated: May 9, 2026

1. Introduction

Bowling-Tournaments.com (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the Bowling-Tournaments website and related services (collectively, the “Service”). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and otherwise process personal information in connection with the Service. It should be read together with our Terms of Service.

By using the Service, you acknowledge this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Information we collect

We collect information that you provide directly, information generated when you use the Service, and information from third-party sources as described below.

Account and authentication

When you register or sign in, we collect identifiers and credentials processed through our authentication provider (including Firebase Authentication), such as your email address, account identifiers, and authentication tokens. If you sign in with a third party (for example, Google), we receive information that provider shares with us according to your settings and that provider’s privacy policy.

Profile and preferences

We store profile and preference information you choose to provide or that we derive for product functionality, which may include your name, date of birth, gender, optional phone number, display information, optional location fields used for discovery (such as city, state, country, and approximate coordinates where you save a location), discovery radius preferences, profile visibility and discoverability settings, notification preferences, bookmarks, follows, and links to profile images stored in our cloud storage.

Tournament directors and applications

If you apply to become a tournament director or maintain a director profile, we collect application and profile information you submit (such as organizer details, contact information, experience, and related materials) and records associated with review or approval workflows.

Tournaments, scores, and community content

We collect content you submit in connection with tournaments and community features, such as tournament listings and metadata, scores, standings, brackets, side pots, notes, images, and social or community interactions visible through the Service.

Location and places search

When you search for locations or set a preferred location, queries and selected places may be processed through server-side integrations with mapping or places providers (such as Google Maps Platform services) to suggest or validate addresses and geographic context.

Images and moderation

If you upload profile or other images, those files may be stored in cloud storage and processed through automated moderation workflows (for example, to help detect unsafe content before images appear publicly).

Technical data and abuse prevention

We automatically collect certain technical information when you use the Service, such as IP address, device and browser type, general usage signals, and timestamps. We may use tokens or challenges from abuse-prevention services (such as Cloudflare Turnstile on forms where implemented) to help detect automated abuse.

Our servers and APIs may log requests associated with your account or session for security, troubleshooting, and reliability.

3. How we use information

We use personal information to:

  • Provide, operate, maintain, and improve the Service;
  • Create and manage accounts and authenticate users;
  • Personalize your experience (for example, tournament discovery, bookmarks, follows, and notification preferences);
  • Display tournament and community content you or others submit, including live or recorded scores and standings;
  • Process director applications, verify eligibility where applicable, and operate director tools;
  • Moderate content, investigate abuse, protect users, and enforce our Terms of Service and policies;
  • Communicate with you about the Service, support requests, and important notices;
  • Comply with law, respond to lawful requests, and protect our rights and users.

4. Cookies and similar technologies

We and our service providers use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies to operate the Service and remember settings.

Essential / functional. We use technologies necessary for core functionality such as keeping you signed in, routing requests securely, and maintaining session integrity.

Preferences. We store your cookie consent choices in your browser’s localStorage (for example, under the key bt-cookie-consent-v1) so we can remember whether you accepted or declined optional analytics.

Optional analytics. Our consent interface allows you to opt in or out of optional analytics cookies. As of the Last Updated date above, we do not load third-party analytics scripts based solely on that preference; your choice is stored locally. If we introduce analytics or similar tools in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy and, where required, obtain appropriate consent before activating those technologies.

5. Sharing and subprocessors

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as described in this Policy or with your direction (for example, when you make content public through the Service).

We share information with:

  • Service providers who host infrastructure, provide authentication, databases, storage, email delivery, mapping or geocoding, abuse prevention, security monitoring, and related processing on our behalf, subject to contractual or technical safeguards.
  • Other users when you post public or shared content (for example, tournament pages, profile fields you choose to expose, or community features).
  • Authorities when we believe disclosure is required by law, regulation, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of users, the public, or Bowling-Tournaments.com.
  • Business transfers in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, where permitted by law.

Third-party providers (including cloud, authentication, maps, and security vendors) process information under their own terms and privacy notices; we encourage you to review those materials for the services you use.

6. Data retention

We retain personal information for as long as necessary to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Retention periods may vary depending on the type of data (for example, account records, tournament content, logs, and backups). Some copies may persist in backups for a limited time before rotation.

7. Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your rights and choices

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal information, or to object to certain processing. You can update some information directly through your account and settings where the Service provides those controls.

To request access, correction, or deletion of your account and associated personal information, contact us at support@bowling-tournaments.com. We will respond consistent with applicable law. If you are in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or other regions with privacy laws, you may also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

You may adjust optional analytics preferences through our cookie consent controls where available.

9. Children’s privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us at support@bowling-tournaments.com and we will take appropriate steps.

10. International users and transfers

We are based in the United States and may process and store information in the United States and other countries where we or our service providers operate. Those countries may have data protection laws that differ from those in your jurisdiction. Where required by law, we implement appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page and revise the “Last Updated” date. If changes are material, we will provide additional notice where appropriate.
